Psychedelic-assisted therapy

Therapy with psychedelics comes in different forms. Depending on the context and the specific substance used, a different name is often used, such as:

  1. Psychedelic therapy: This is the most general term used to refer to therapies that use psychedelics.
  2. Hallucinogenic therapy: This is a term sometimes used to refer to therapies that use substances such as LSD, DMT, mescaline and psilocybin.
  3. Entheogenic therapy: This is a term that refers to therapies that use psychedelics with the aim of inducing spiritual or religious experiences.
  4. Psycholytic therapy: This is a term originally used to refer to therapies that used low doses of psychedelics to expand consciousness and assist in psychotherapeutic treatments.
  5. Triptherapy: Trip therapy is an integrated approach that focuses on improving the neurochemistry and overall health of the individual, in combination with the use of psychedelics in a therapeutic setting. For example, the neurotransmitter test can help determine the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain, and lifestyle advice can be aimed at improving the individual's diet and sleep habits.
  6. MDMA therapy: Psychedelic therapy with MDMA as a therapeutic tool
  7. LSD therapy: Psychedelic therapy with LSD as a psychedelic.

Which psychedelic drugs suit which treatment?

At Trip Therapy we work with three types of psychedelics to support the sessions. We do the psilocybin sessions with magic truffles, for MDMA and LSD sessions legal analogues are used that have the same effect while complying with current legislation. Below is a brief summary of application areas.

Psilocybin

Psilocybin's effects, such as reducing anxiety and depression and enhancing spiritual experiences and self-reflection, may provide therapeutic benefits in treating these conditions. Psilocybin sessions are also done for addictions, social anxiety and low self-esteem

During a psilocybin session, the participant may experience feelings of increased openness, connection and introspection. This can help explore underlying emotions and trauma that contribute to their condition. Psilocybin therapy consists of a combination of preparation, the session and an integration conversation.

MDMA

MDMA therapy is currently being investigated as a treatment for several psychiatric conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders and depression. The first results show that MDMA therapy is very effective, especially for anxiety-related complaints.

MDMA's effects, such as reducing anxiety and enhancing empathy and communication, may provide therapeutic benefits in treating these conditions.

During an MDMA session, the client may experience feelings of increased openness, empathy and connection, which can help them explore traumatic experiences or underlying emotions that contribute to their condition.

LSD

LSD as therapy

LSD therapy can be a catalyst in treating anxiety, depression, addiction, and improving the quality of life in patients with terminal illnesses.

LSD can induce deep introspective awareness and can help explore emotions and experiences that are normally difficult to access. Due to its long duration but a similar effect to psilocybin, psilocybin is more often recommended than LSD.
