Besides lowering the sense of self and time, they also allow for the visualization of ideas, making it easier to generate ideas. A picture or video is worth a thousand words. Higher doses of psychedelics like psilocybin are also known to suppress speech and language; even thoughts are no longer verbal and therefore different from how you normally think.
