Higher intelligence and creativity through LSD

LSD is a powerful psychedelic drug that has received increasing attention in scientific research in recent years, especially regarding its effects on mental health. However, LSD is often used for recreational purposes, but more and more people are also doing so for creativity and a boost in intelligence. Studies show that LSD promotes neuroplasticity, which increases the brain’s ability to adapt and form new connections. This can lead to increased creativity, as individuals are able to step outside traditional thought patterns and generate new ideas.

One of the mechanisms by which LSD can produce these effects is the stimulation of the 5HT2a receptors in the brain. These receptors are involved in the regulation of mood, perception, and cognition. By activating these receptors, LSD can alter the connectivity between different brain regions, resulting in new perspectives and insights. This can be particularly valuable for artists, writers, and other creative professionals seeking new inspiration.

Additionally, there is evidence that LSD increases the production of the neurotrophin BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor). BDNF plays a crucial role in the growth and repair of neurons, which can contribute to a healthier brain and improved learning ability. This reinforces the hypothesis that psychedelics like LSD not only offer therapeutic benefits but can also improve cognitive functions.

Kary Mullis, a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, discovered a groundbreaking method for multiplying DNA, known as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). He was also known for experimenting extensively with LSD. He mentioned that his experiences with LSD influenced his thinking and creativity. Mullis was also known for his unconventional ideas and eccentric personality, including his belief in astrology and encounters with extraterrestrial beings.

The video about Kary argues that using LSD has made him more creative and able to fantasize and philosophize with visual effects known from stronger hallucinogenic drugs such as LSD.

Psychedelics also helped other big names

There have been more well-known individuals who have admitted to using LSD, including Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple. In various interviews, Steve Jobs has stated that he used LSD and that these experiences have had a significant impact on his life and his vision of technology and creativity. He described his LSD experiences as “one of the two or three most important things I have ever done in my life.” He claimed that it helped him to broaden his mind and gain new perspectives.

Although Steve Jobs may be the best-known person to have spoken openly about his use of LSD, there have been other celebrities and influential figures from various fields who have reportedly used LSD. These include the British writer Aldous Huxley, the musician John Lennon of The Beatles, the Nobel Prize-winning scientist Francis Crick, and the psychologist and writer Timothy Leary.

Thin line between delusion and invention

People with psychotic traits can, in some cases, develop new ideas and insights, which can lead to creative inventions or delusions. This phenomenon can be explained by the unique way their brain functions. Psychosis can be accompanied by an increased state of hyperconnectivity in the brain, which can result in the formation of new connections and patterns. This can enable them to step outside of conventional thought frameworks and discover new perspectives.

In addition, the experience of psychosis can expose them to alternative realities or perspectives that are inaccessible to others. This can lead to the development of ideas that are considered innovative or original. However, it is important to note that these experiences can also lead to confusion and delusions. So not all psychotic experiences result in positive or useful inventions.

LSD trip as a mini-psychosis

An LSD session can be described as a controlled mini-psychosis, which can lead to increased creativity. During an LSD session, different parts of the brain are activated, which can result in the creation of new connections and the discovery of unusual associations. This phenomenon is often attributed to the reduction in activity of the Default Mode Network, a network in the brain involved in self-reflection and planning for the future. Through this reduction in activity, users can more easily think outside the box and visualize new ideas. Additionally, psychedelics such as LSD can influence speech and language processing, making thoughts less formulated in words and more in images, which can further stimulate creativity.

All the information that is already present in the brain can be mixed together during such an LSD trip. The combination of various elements can lead to new ideas. This is why an LSD trip can lead to new discoveries.
