Why Opium Act List 1A?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The expansion of the Opium Act with List 1A<\/strong> as of July 1, 2025, resulting from the introduction of the NPS Act (New Psychoactive Substances)<\/strong>. The reason for this legislation is the rapid rise of so-called designer drugs<\/em>, substances that just fell outside the existing legislation but are comparable in effect to well-known drugs such as MDMA.<\/p>

There are four main reasons why this law was introduced:<\/p>

  1. Prevention and public health<\/strong>By banning chemically related groups of substances in one go, the government wants to prevent potentially dangerous substances from entering the market before damage occurs.<\/p><\/li>

  2. The producer before his<\/strong>NPS producers have been tweaking molecules ever so slightly to remain legal. With this new, generic approach, even these minor variations are immediately subject to the ban.<\/p><\/li>

  3. International pressure<\/strong>The Netherlands was internationally recognized as a base for the production of these substances. The new law better aligns with the European approach and helps combat cross-border trade.<\/p><\/li>

  4. More efficient detection<\/strong>: Police and judiciary no longer have to wait for individual risk assessments per substance, which speeds up the work process and simplifies enforcement.<\/p><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    What is still possible now?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Despite the ban on many MDMA analogs under Schedule 1A of the Opium Act, several legal and safe options remain available for those interested in psychedelic therapy or an alternative MDMA experience. These options include legal psychedelics like psilocybin (truffles), legal LSD analogs, or substances that resemble MDMA but are still legal. For those who possess MDMA themselves, there are also opportunities to use us as a trip sitter.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    Using your own MDMA<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Although MDMA and its analogues fall under Schedule 1 or 1A of the Opium Act in the Netherlands, making possession punishable, the use itself is not prosecuted in practice. This creates room to offer responsible support to people who consciously choose to use MDMA during a supervised session.<\/p>

    Dutch law distinguishes between use and possession. Actually taking MDMA is not formally punishable. Possession, purchase, sale, production, or transport of it is. According to the Opium Act Criminal Procedure Guidelines<\/em> the Public Prosecution Service orders a quantity of up to 0.5 gram or one pill<\/strong> Classified as a "small quantity" for personal use. In most cases, this only leads to seizure, but not to prosecution.<\/p>

    From a harm-reduction approach<\/strong> We do not reject clients who choose to bring a small amount of MDMA or an MDMA analog to a session. We believe that people who consciously do this are better off under professional supervision than alone or unprepared. During such a session, we act as tripsitter<\/strong>We support safety, offer psychological support, and ensure an optimal setting, without supplying or owning the material.<\/p>

    However, we do have a number of important conditions:<\/p>
