Do the magic shrooms show up in a urine test?
Magic mushrooms generally do not show up on standard urine drug tests. Most standard drug tests screen for substances like cannabis, opioids, cocaine, amphetamines, and benzodiazepines, but not for psychedelics like psilocybin. However, specialized tests can detect psilocybin, though they are rare and usually used in forensic or research settings.
Detection Time in Urine
1 to 3 days after ingestion in most cases.
In rare cases, heavy or frequent use might extend detection to up to 5 days.
Psilocybin is quickly metabolized into psilocin, which is then excreted in the urine. Since it has a short half-life (about 50 minutes for psilocin), it leaves the system relatively fast compared to other drugs.
Other Testing Methods
Blood: Detectable for about 12-24 hours after use.
Saliva: Rarely tested, but similar to blood (~12 hours).
Hair: Can be detected for up to 90 days, but hair tests for psychedelics are extremely rare.
