What is the advised gap between two psychedelic sessions
There’s no one-size-fits-all rule for the time between psychedelic sessions, but at Triptherapie the ideal interval depends on the substance used and the depth of the work.
When MDMA is involved, you can have a maximum of six sessions per year. This usually means about one session every two months, though sometimes people choose a shorter gap of around four weeks between a couple of sessions and have a longer rest period after three sessions. This limit isn’t just about safety for your brain chemistry — it also allows enough time to integrate the emotional breakthroughs that MDMA-assisted therapy can bring.
When it comes to psilocybin or LSD, you can technically repeat sessions every two weeks without tolerance being an issue. However, we still recommend leaving one to two months between sessions. That extra time helps you get the most out of the integration process, and it lets the longer-term positive effects of these substances keep unfolding in your daily life.
In both cases, taking enough time between sessions isn’t just about rest — it’s about allowing the insights, emotional shifts, and neurochemical changes to take root so that each experience builds on the last rather than blurring into it.
