In the days before the psychedelic session, is there anything you suggest I do (or avoid) to be more open or receptive?
During the days leading up to your psychedelic session, a solid preparation is key to a deep, safe, and healing experience. The main guideline is: keep a clear mind, a healthy body, and an open heart. Here’s what you should do—or avoid—to be optimally prepared:
1. Avoid stimulants or sedatives:
Alcohol, coffee, energy drinks, cannabis, and other recreational drugs disrupt your neurochemical balance. Medications such as antidepressants, benzodiazepines, or painkillers can weaken or dangerously interact with psychedelics. Ideally, stop using these at least two weeks before your session, unless otherwise advised by your physician or us.
2. Eat healthy and light:
Nutrition affects your mood and your brain's receptor sensitivity. A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids (fatty fish, flaxseed), vegetables, fruits, and nuts supports your brain. Avoid sugars, junk food, and tyramine-rich products like aged cheese or fermented foods—especially if you’ll be using passionflower in a psiloflora ceremony.
3. Get enough sleep:
A well-rested brain is better able to process a psychedelic experience. Ensure at least 7–8 hours of sleep per night for the three nights leading up to the session. Check: Help with sleep
4. Minimize overstimulation:
Consider a digital detox: less screen time, no social media, and avoid chaotic or violent media. Instead, seek mental calm through a walk, a bath, soothing music, or silence. Also see: dopamine detox
5. Clarify your intention:
Reflect on why you’re doing this session. Consider writing down questions you’d like to explore or themes you’d like to work on. What do you want to release? What are you ready to face? Psychedelics often respond strongly to this inner clarity.
6. Practice meditation, breathwork, and gentle movement:
Daily meditation or breathing exercises help you connect to your inner world. Light movement such as yoga, walking, or dancing helps release tension and settle your nervous system.
7. Follow our preparation plan:
After the session has been booked, we'll send you a guide to prepare. Follow these instructions even better the days before the session.
