I, as a client, and we, as a group, were lucky. Lucky that such an event existed, with the location, the weather, the therapists, and the group. The main part consisted of two exercises focused on psychodrama, but with an emphasis on working with inner parts, which helped participants discover and strengthen their self-healing mechanisms. While consuming psycholytics can be helpful, they don't do the inner work for you. Those participants who were brave enough to reach out, open up, and be ready to experience whatever came their way seemed to receive more and were moved more. Some people shared their issues and how they were trying to overcome them, which was incredibly inspiring.
Overall, I would say that this event is for you if: You want to find strength within yourself, experience an intense feeling of acceptance, support, care, and empowerment, and are willing to carry that over into your daily life.
In my humble opinion, the event may not be for you if: You expect a particular trauma to be deeply investigated, thoroughly discussed, or role-played in psychodrama. If you expect the drug to do all the inner work for you. While it will still likely be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I encourage you not only to go but also to be ready to accept what comes, open up, and "say where it hurts."
As a result, I recently was able to "summon" a new, helping part of myself during a moment of interpersonal difficulty. And for the past few days, while brushing my teeth, I’ve been thinking, “Today was a good day.”
