At what point is the psilocybin given—before meeting the facilitator or after connecting with them?
The psilocybin is always administered after you’ve met and connected with your facilitator — never before. At Triptherapie, creating a safe and trusting environment is a key part of the process, and that begins with a face-to-face check-in before any psychedelics are taken.
On the day of your session, the facilitator arrives and first spends time talking with you to review your intentions, address any last questions, and ensure you're feeling grounded and ready. Only when you feel safe, calm, and fully aligned with the process will the psilocybin — usually in the form of truffles or truffle tea — be administered.
This pre-trip connection is vital. It not only builds trust but helps set the mental and emotional “set & setting,” which strongly influences the quality and safety of the experience. You're always in control and nothing begins until you're ready.
Here's a step-by-step breakdown of how a typical psilocybin session day unfolds at Triptherapie, especially for a private one-on-one experience:
Arrival and Welcome
Your facilitator arrives at the agreed location — whether it's your home, a rental, or the Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam. They’ll bring everything needed for the session: the psilocybin truffles, calming music, tea, and comfort items if needed.
Connection and Check-In
Before any psilocybin is taken, you’ll sit down together to review your intentions, talk through your emotional state, and go over practical details. This phase typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes and helps you settle in and build trust with your guide.
Preparation of the Psilocybin
Depending on your preference, the psilocybin is usually prepared as a truffle tea (gentler on the stomach and easier to dose). The dose and format (tea, chewed truffles, or capsule) are agreed upon based on your intake and the goal of the session.
Setting the Intention
Right before ingestion, the facilitator helps you clearly name your intention. This can be spoken aloud, written down, or held in your mind. It becomes the emotional anchor for your journey.
Ingestion of Psilocybin
Once you feel ready, you take the psilocybin. The facilitator stays with you throughout the entire experience. The effects begin to emerge after about 30 to 60 minutes.
The Psychedelic Experience (2 to 6 hours)
As the trip unfolds, your guide provides subtle support — they stay nearby, and only intervene when helpful. You’ll mostly lie down with an eye mask and music. You may talk, cry, laugh, stay silent — all is welcome. The facilitator creates and holds a safe space for whatever arises.
Landing and Integration Start
As the effects wear off, the facilitator helps you gently “land” and re-enter everyday consciousness. You’ll talk about your experience in a relaxed, reflective way.
Post-Session Care
After the session, you’ll get tips for physical and emotional self-care, and your facilitator checks in with you again over the next days or weeks to help integrate the insights into daily life.
