Is it for somebody with trauma good to do a psychedelic retreat? And you you have special therapists who can work on trauma during these retreats?

Yes, a psychedelic retreat can be deeply healing for individuals dealing with trauma, but only under the right conditions. Triptherapie is specifically set up to support this type of transformational work, combining psychedelics like psilocybin (from truffles) with therapeutic techniques tailored to trauma healing.

During the driedaagse therapeutische retraite, two highly experienced trauma-informed therapists guide each participant through a full process of preparation, the psychedelic journey, and integration. These therapists are:

  1. Ronald Hochstenbach – a psychosocial therapist with over 30 years of experience in trauma work. He uses methods like IFS (Internal Family Systems), voice dialogue, psychodrama and bodywork to help clients access and safely process trauma.

  2. Reineke Brandt – a psychologist who blends classical psychology with mindfulness, aromatherapy and trauma-sensitive practices. She has a gentle, grounded presence and also speaks Dutch, English and German.

What makes these retreats effective for trauma:

  1. Small groups (max 6 people), so there's a high degree of individual attention and emotional safety.

  2. A complete program: online preparation (to establish intentions and safety), the guided psychedelic session itself, a full integration day with trauma-informed exercises, and a follow-up session after six weeks.

  3. The use of low to medium truffle doses for trauma-sensitive clients is possible. The therapists adjust the dose and method based on your needs and psychological history.

In many cases, a retreat like this allows repressed emotions and memories to surface in a safe setting, where they can be processed rather than re-experienced as overwhelming. Techniques like TRE (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) and Yoga Nidra are used to help regulate the nervous system before and after the psychedelic experience.

However, not everyone with trauma is immediately suited for a group retreat. That's why Triptherapie asks all potential participants to fill out an intake form — this helps screen for contraindications, such as severe dissociation, active psychosis, or unstable PTSD.

If you're dealing with complex trauma, a private session with Ronald or Reineke might be more appropriate to start. You can also combine individual therapy with later participation in a retreat once a safe foundation is established.
