How much participants is the best for a mushroom ceremony?
The ideal number of participants for a mushroom ceremony can vary depending on the situation, intentions, and the experience level of the facilitator(s). At Triptherapie we prefer a maximum of 6 participants, that allows the group for deeper trips and still mainting the group feeling.
In general, smaller groups (3-6 participants) are often recommended for a more profound and manageable experience, especially for those new to mushroom ceremonies. We always have two guides available for our magic mushroom ceremonies with maximum 6 participants.

The optimal number of participants for a mushroom ceremony depends on your goals and experience level. At Triptherapie, we usually recommend small groups of up to 6 people, and here’s why:
Safety and personal guidance – With small groups, each participant receives more attention and care. At Triptherapie, there's always at least one experienced guide per four participants, ensuring emotional and physical safety.
Intimacy and connection – Smaller ceremonies allow for a deeper group connection without overwhelming your personal space. You’ll feel supported, yet still have the freedom to retreat into your own experience.
Custom dosing and support – In small settings, facilitators can adjust your truffle dosage and support your individual process, whether you want to go deep or prefer a gentler introduction.
Privacy and flexibility – At locations like the Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam, you can step aside into a quiet room if needed. This is harder to do in larger groups.
For first-timers, small groups or even individual sessions are best. Experienced users sometimes enjoy larger ceremonies for the community aspect, but Triptherapie’s approach remains focused on personal transformation in a secure, supportive environment.
If you’re unsure, you can fill in the intake form to help us recommend the best type of ceremony for you.
For the new mushrooms retreats we only allow 6 participants to ensure therapeutic depth. There are two therapists supporting these 6 participants. We think 6 people is the best for therapy and privacy when needed!
I prefer a small group over the big groups. I need some more privacy during the beginning of the session....
