Guided truffle session
A truffle session is a guided experience with legal, psilocybin-containing magic truffles. At Triptherapie you combine this with professional guidance: from preparation to integration, individually or in a small group, on location throughout the Netherlands. Check our availability and complete the intake in advance so we can assess whether the session can take place.
Magic truffles
Magic truffles are a subset of psychoactive mushrooms containing psilocybin and psilocin. These psychedelic substances can cause hallucinations, alterations in perception, emotions, and psychological effects. These substances can affect visual and auditory perception, as well as the sense of time and space. Effects usually begin within 15-30 minutes of ingestion and can last 3-6 hours. The intensity and duration of the effects vary and depend primarily on dosage, individual sensitivity, and the environment.
Psilocybin (which is also found in truffles) is being researched worldwide as a potential treatment for a variety of conditions. Researchers are looking into its effects on depression, addiction (such as alcohol, smoking and opioid addiction) and anxiety, and are also exploring applications for treatment-resistant depression and OCD. The strongest and most convincing results to date have been achieved in the treatment of depression, where research has shown a long-lasting antidepressant effect, sometimes even after a single session.
Individual or group session?
Individual truffle session
One of the benefits of a private session is that it can be more focused and personal. During individual truffle sessions, we can focus entirely on the specific needs and goals of the person undergoing the session. There is more room for individual guidance, where genuine attention is given to the person undergoing the session. This can yield profound therapeutic experiences that are less easily achieved in a group, such as during a truffle ceremony.
A private truffle session can offer a sense of safety and trust and may feel less intimidating than a truffle ceremony, which can be overwhelming for some. There can also be more flexibility in the session length, timing, and the set and setting.
Truffle ceremony
A psilocybin truffle ceremony has several advantages. First of all, the cost is usually lower than booking an individual session alone. This makes the therapy accessible to more people.
In addition, the group feeling can contribute to a sense of connection and support during the trip.
Having fellow participants can help to better understand and process the experience, as those attending the ceremony often participate for the same reasons.
Furthermore, sharing experiences with others can provide an opportunity to learn from each other and gain new insights.
Who do you want a truffle session with?
It is essential to feel comfortable with the person guiding you during a truffle session, as it is a very personal and intimate experience. You come into contact with various parts of your psyche that would otherwise remain undiscovered, and this can sometimes lead to unexpected emotions. Therefore, it is important that you feel safe and supported, as this enables you to open up completely to the experience and embrace any emotion that arises. A good guide will not only understand that this experience can be intense, but will also be able to reassure you and guide you through any emotions or challenges that occur. Exploring your own subconscious can be experienced as both transformative and . Having someone by your side who both supports and understands you contributes to the effectiveness of a truffle session.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about truffle sessions
A truffle session is a guided, therapeutic experience using legal magic truffles, structured in three phases: preparation, the session itself, and an integration conversation. You can choose an individual session or a small-scale group ceremony, always guided by a dedicated therapist or facilitator.
Yes. Psilocybin-containing mushrooms are on the list of prohibited substances, but magic truffles fall outside of it. They were never brought under the mushroom ban of 2008. A truffle session with truffles is therefore simply legal.
We are only allowed to work with magic truffles. If you want a session with magic mushrooms, we are not allowed to supply magic mushrooms. We are allowed to guide you if you own magic mushrooms yourself and want to use them under supervision. We then act as tripsitter.
If you are interested in magic mushrooms, we do recommend considering the legal magic truffles, as they contain the same active ingredients and therefore produce the same effects.
For most healthy adults yes, provided they are properly guided. Physically, overdosing is virtually impossible and there is no unpleasant “come down” as with some other substances. The biggest risk is on the mental side: intense emotions can surface, and for people with a history of psychosis, schizophrenia or certain cardiovascular diseases, a truffle session is not recommended. That is why we screen everyone in advance for contra-indications via the intake.
The main risks are an increased chance of negative experiences in the case of psychological vulnerability, such as a history of psychosis or schizophrenia, temporarily intense emotions or a “bad trip”, and interaction with certain medication such as antidepressants. Physically, truffles are generally considered safe, as an overdose is virtually impossible. Good preparation, screening and guidance significantly reduce the risks.
A session begins with an intake interview in which your intention, medical background and any contraindications are discussed. On the day itself, you usually take the truffles as tea, under continuous guidance. The effect sets in after 15 to 30 minutes and lasts 3 to 6 hours, followed by a period of rest and landing. This is followed by an integration session to process the experience.
For the session itself, allow for a half-day. The effects take effect after 15 to 30 minutes and usually last 3 to 6 hours. If you include the preparatory conversation, the landing time afterwards, and the space to recover quietly, you will easily lose a full day. The presence of a therapist during the session itself is usually 5-6 hours.
The price depends on the format (individual or group) and the trainer you choose. Private sessions at the client's location often cost between 750 and 950 euros. For longer distances, travel expenses will be added. You can calculate the exact fare including travel expenses here. Group ceremonies often include overnights and are available from 600 euros.

Availability for a private truffle session depends on the chosen therapist or guide. Via the overview of the availability per psychedelic guide can you quickly see who is available when.
We will help you prepare at various points, because good preparation starts with getting your intention clear. What do you want to explore or change? In addition, we recommend resting in the days leading up to the session, eating healthily, avoiding alcohol and other substances, and avoiding stressful situations where possible.
We give the first preparation advice based on the online intake. The second advice is discussed by telephone with your chosen guide about 1 to 2 weeks before the truffle session.
During an individual truffle session you receive full, personal attention from your facilitator, with greater flexibility in timing and setting. A group ceremony is more accessible in price and offers the added value of a shared experience with fellow travellers. Both formats offer the same quality of guidance and safety.
Yes, our supervisors come to any location throughout the Netherlands, to your home, an Airbnb, holiday home, or hotel. You can also make use of one of our own spaces.
Yes, at Triptherapie we also offer truffle duo sessions on. In a duo session, you can focus primarily on yourself and/or on the relationship.
With regular therapy, you mainly work verbally, through conversation and reflection. A truffle session goes further: the altered state of consciousness that truffles induce can make deeper-lying emotions and patterns directly palpable, instead of just talking about them. It is therefore often used as a supplement to existing treatment, not as a replacement for it.
Many providers work with a single fixed coach or only offer group ceremonies. At Triptherapie you choose your own guide from a team of BIG and NIP registered psychologists and experienced therapists, male or female, and you decide yourself whether you want an individual session or a group ceremony. We are active throughout the Netherlands, not tied to a single city or region, offer an at-home service, and our team has together guided thousands of sessions. Furthermore, reviews from previous clients can be read independently via Google and via trip-forum.nl. Furthermore, Triptherapie is the most experienced provider of psychedelic sessions with nearly 4,000 clients.
