Brain cells repair and create new connections with the help of magic mushrooms

Neurogenesis in the brain

New brain connections

Magic mushrooms and truffles have been shown to have active compounds, psilocybin and psilocin, that stimulate the growth of new branches and connections between brain cells, which can help address conditions like depression and addiction. Researchers in California have shown that these substances, which are banned as illegal drugs in many states, are capable of rewiring parts of the brain in ways that go far beyond the effects of pharmaceuticals. This suggests that psychedelics could represent the "next generation" of treatments for mental disorders, potentially more effective and safer than existing options, according to the authors of the University of California study.

Ayahuasca can also help

Previous studies by the same team showed that a single dose of DMT, the key ingredient in ayahuasca medicinal brews from Amazonian tribes, helps rats overcome a fear of electric shocks designed to mimic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Now, they've shown that this dose increases the number of branch-like dendrites that grow from nerve cells in the rat brain. These dendrites end at synapses, where their electrical impulses are transmitted to other nerve cells, supporting all brain activity. But they can atrophy (shrink) and relapse in people with mental illnesses. "One of the hallmarks of depression is that the neurites in the prefrontal cortex, a key brain region regulating emotion, mood, and anxiety, tend to shrink," says Dr. David Olson, who led the research team.

Anxiety, addiction and PTSD

These brain changes also occur in cases of anxiety, addiction, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and encouraging them to reconnect can help address them. The research, published in the journal Cell Reports, looked at drugs across several classes, including tryptamines, DMT and magic mushrooms, amphetamines (including MDMA), and ergolines (such as LSD). In tests on human brain cells in the lab, flies, and rats, the researchers found that these substances consistently strengthened brain connections.

Medical confirmation

People have long believed that psychedelics are capable of altering neuronal structure; this is the first study to clearly and unequivocally confirm this. This opens up a whole new range of treatment options, potentially less prone to side effects and abuse. The research shows that several different psychedelics are capable of promoting plasticity.

Results even after one mushroom trip therapy session

From our own experience, we can tell you that four out of five people who experience a trip experience benefit from it after just one session. Even after one session, you'll notice an increase in positivity, creativity, confidence, and openness. "A five-hour trip solved more for me than five years of regular therapy," said one tripper.

Triptherapie including experienced trip coach

I, Marcel, am a trip coach at triptherapie.nl and have had experience with psilocybin-containing truffles and magic mushrooms since 2012. I can also guide you through your self-healing journey under the influence of psilocybin. For best results, I do this in your familiar surroundings, such as your home or in nature around your corner. I take all the work off your hands by arranging everything surrounding the trip. I go beyond simply providing the self-healing journey. To maintain a positive outlook on life, you will also receive lifestyle coaching through nutritional and exercise advice. This includes examining neurotransmitters, which have a significant influence on your state of mind.
