About Sascha

My name is Sascha, and I've been working as a psychologist since 2016. I initially spent several years in addiction treatment, and currently work in basic mental health care, specialized mental health care, and medical rehabilitation. My work at Triptherapie allows me to combine my knowledge and experience as a psychologist with my interest in working with psychedelics, which I believe will be of great value to mental health care.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a psychologist because I noticed people were eager to share their stories with me, and I enjoyed helping them. Later, I realized the value of creating a safe space where people can feel free and vulnerable.

The journey of self-discovery and personal development, exploring certain beliefs, learned patterns, and triggers that are likely familiar to many people—such as setting the bar far too high, pushing myself beyond my limits, and caring deeply about what others think—has brought me so much in recent years, and I've discovered that you never really stop learning. This is precisely what I love about my work: using the knowledge gained from my training, but also what I've learned and experienced myself, to help others make this same journey within themselves. And now, in a dual sense: not only a journey of discovery within and to yourself, but also the "journey," as a psychedelic session is often called. How wonderful it is to combine the two!

Research into the effects of psychedelics on mental disorders like depression and PTSD is expanding and deepening internationally, with very promising results. I believe this is already, and will become, an enormously valuable addition to mental healthcare. This is especially true for people for whom "traditional therapy" is insufficient or unsuitable, but also for everyone else, as so much can be achieved in so few sessions. Often even in a single session!

Sascha has a solid foundation as a psychedelic therapist, thanks to her psychology studies, Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and experience working in addiction treatment, (specialized) mental health care, and rehabilitation as a psychologist. She also has additional training in cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR.

Specialism

In addition to my Psychology studies at the University of Amsterdam, where I earned my master's degree in clinical psychology, I have completed various advanced training programs, including basic courses in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, as well as programs like the Barrel of Self-Esteem. These programs and my academic background have certainly benefited me, but I find it even more important to work from my own experiences and, above all, my own feelings. As a client of mine once said, "With you, it never feels like a conversation between psychologist and patient, but always between people." In my work, I have gained experience treating addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, low self-esteem, burnout, and grief, but my interests also lie in general self-development and spiritual growth.

My own experiences with psychedelics

After my own experiences with psychedelics, I see that I've begun to see the world and myself differently. It opens up new ways of thinking and provides insights into things that are sometimes deeply hidden. I find it beautiful that sometimes we understand something with our minds (for example, "I shouldn't care so much about what others think"), but we often don't actually feel it. During a psychedelic session, this understanding truly sinks in. You know, see, and feel something in every fiber of your being, and this lingers long after the trip. These insights, which you truly feel, can lead to enormous changes. A session often gives you exactly what you need. Sometimes these are small insights and small steps; sometimes you get to look yourself in the mirror and see what you've been avoiding or what you find difficult to face. This isn't always pleasant or easy, but it's incredibly valuable and ultimately beautiful to experience. My greatest lessons have come from my most uncomfortable moments. It's also fair to say that a psychedelic session is simply beautiful, wondrous, and deeply moving. It's a life-changing experience in more ways than one, and it's certainly never boring!

My approach

The digital intake form forms the basis of the action plan. You will receive personalized lifestyle advice focused on your intention(s), partly in preparation for the session. As your trip leader, I will be there for you before, during, and after the session. The session begins similar to talk therapy. After the intake, we will communicate less and less, eventually letting go of words; after all, it's all about the experience. Throughout the trip, music will be playing, and I will be subtly present, attentively present at a location of your choosing, so you feel comfortable. This allows you to fully focus on the experience and the valuable insights that will bring you closer to your goal or intention. As you sober up, we will gently reconnect with each other and explore together what your psychedelic experience can mean for you.

Would you like to have a session with me? Make sure you complete the intake form so my colleagues can check your information for any contraindications. After this check, you'll know if you're suitable for a psychedelic session.
