Dopamine detox

Dopamine molecule

Dopamine, serotonin, GABA and acetylcholine

When you register for a psychedelic session, we test for any deficiencies in the neurotransmitters dopamine, serotonin, GABA, and acetylcholine using a questionnaire. We do this because a deficiency in these neurotransmitters can lead to various psychological and psychosomatic complaints. This allows us to better restore balance in the brain through neurochemistry.

The dopamine detox

Dopamine plays a major role in the rewards of living organisms like humans. Dopamine represents the short-lived happiness we derive from personal goals. It gives us energy and satisfaction at that moment, which in turn fuels our ego growth. On the one hand, this is a very healthy process that allows us to grow as individuals and take care of ourselves. On the other hand, it can overwhelm the drive for personal growth, leading to excessive separation from others. Addiction and isolation lurk when the drive for personal satisfaction via a dopamine hit becomes excessive. Examples of addictive dopamine hits include gambling, sugary foods, smoking, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, social media, smartphone use, pornography, and alcohol. In many cases, the loneliness creates a bond with the addiction, leading to even more loneliness and even more addiction. Breaking a dopamine-driven negative spiral can be done with a dopamine detox.

Dopamine detox and psychedelic therapy

Our psychedelic therapy for addiction and loneliness works even more effectively when preceded by a dopamine detox. The detox allows rewards to also arise via the serotonin receptor, creating a sense of connection and reducing the ego dopamine craves. Psychedelics activate serotonin receptors, creating a sense of connection and reducing the ego. This explains the ego death experienced during higher doses. The combination of the dopamine detox and the psychedelic session reduces an overly large ego, creating a balance between taking care of yourself through genuine and healthy practices and connecting with the outside world. Ultimately, it's all about finding the right balance!

What is your addiction?

An addiction is a form of self-destruction that's difficult to let go of. On the one hand, it feels familiar and part of a rhythm. It's a pattern that can be replaced by another. Are you ready to let go of the old and embrace the new?
