The magic truffle ceremony
A truffle ceremony can have different names such as “psilocybin ceremony”, “magic mushroom ceremony”, “magic mushroom ceremony” or simply as a “plant medicine ceremony”. In the Netherlands we mainly call this the truffle ceremony because only the magic truffle, which contains psilocybin, is legal. We offer you a safe and comfortable environment where you as a participant can experience the powerful experience, insights and therapeutic effects of truffles.
The effect of the truffle/psilocybin
Psilocybin is a psychoactive substance found in magic truffles. When converted to psilocin, it has several effects on the brain, including an increased sensation of connection with the environment, changes in perception and disruptions to the sense of time. Psilocin works by binding to serotonin receptor sites in the brain, specifically the 5-HT2A receptor. This leads to a change in stimulus processing and neurochemistry. These changes are mainly responsible for the euphoric and hallucinogenic effects. For a detailed explanation of how psilocybin works and what you can use it for, please read the next page.
The extra support for Tripherapie
We offer more than just the truffle ceremony. In addition to the ceremony itself, we offer standard before and after care. Prior to the ceremony, each customer receives personal advice based on the intake and the customer's objectives. Furthermore, the preparation can minimize any fear or uncertainty by improving neurochemistry with nutrition and/or supplements. After the ceremony, an integration conversation can be held to process the experience and integrate it into daily life. All in all, this is our approach:
Before the ceremony
- Screening for safety based on the intake
- Nutritional advice in preparation for the truffle ceremony
- Supplement advice to improve neurochemistry
- Video and reading suggestions that can come to life during the session
- Small assignments that can help prepare for the session
During the ceremony
- Time to get acquainted and relax
- A group theme that can support goal setting
- Small groups so that there is room for a group feeling and:
- Taking space for yourself is possible by temporarily withdrawing to separate cabins
- Experienced guidance with always at least one supervisor for every four participants
After the ceremony
- Food and drinks are included and are mainly healthy
- The overnight stay is included as standard but not mandatory
- Possible breakfast is included
- Post-session tips will be sent by email
- An integration conversation a few days after the ceremony
Psilohuasca, psiloflora or truffle ceremony
Free choice of ceremony
From June 2023, you can choose from each truffle ceremony psiloflora and vice versa. Psiloflora is comparable to psilohuasca, but with a softer MAOi (passion flower). As a customer you can therefore choose at the last minute whether you want to use psiloflora as an addition to your truffle ceremony. There are some additional contraindications for psiloflora, such as the use of SSRI and SNRI. We can assess whether psiloflora is suitable through the intake. The addition of the passion flower can make the effects of the truffles a little stronger and prolong them. Furthermore, the passion flower can create a more relaxed mindset, making the trip easier. More information about the psiloflora ceremony can be found via the link.
Tyramine-restricted diet
With psiloflora it is mandatory to adhere to a tyramine-restricted diet one week in advance to avoid the risk of side effects. Read the page below for more information
Reserve a spot
To ensure the safety and effectiveness of our truffle ceremony, it is mandatory for every participant to first complete the intake. The intake is a questionnaire in which we can assess your medical and psychological background and any medication use for safety. This allows us to determine whether the truffle ceremony is suitable for you and take extra precautions if necessary.
By completing the intake you give us a better idea of who you are and what you can expect from the truffle ceremony. We want to guarantee the quality of our services and tailor the experience as best as possible to your personal needs.
So before you can participate in a truffle ceremony or psiloflora ceremony, we ask you to first complete the intake. This is an important step in ensuring a safe, responsible and enjoyable experience.
Truffle ceremony and theme
We attach a theme to every truffle ceremony. These themes can be freely interpreted and give an extra dimension to the psychedelic ceremony. During the week before the truffle ceremony, we will send video and/or reading suggestions related to the theme to each participant and serve as a kickstarter for the introductory conversation before we start the actual ceremony. You can freely use these themes for your personal goals and they provide space to connect with the other participants.

FAQ truffle ceremonies
At Triptherapie, the truffle ceremonies cost 450 euros per participant. This price includes psychedelics, food, drinks and overnight accommodation.
We have a maximum number of participants of only 6 people. We do this to give more space per person and with six participants there is also a group feeling. For 6 participants we also have two supervisors present. In our opinion, this is the best ratio.
About 75 percent of the participants feel tired after the day of the truffle ceremony. This has to do with the fact that some trips are intensive and that it is sometimes more difficult to fall asleep after using truffles. We recommend not scheduling any appointments the day after the ceremony.
Most people are under the influence of truffles for between 4 and 7 hours. Depending on the dosage and how the body works, it differs per person. However, the most intense effects last about 2-3 hours, what we call the peak experience. There is also an afterglow after the trip that can last for a few hours.
On average, people can only drive again after 10-14 hours after ingesting truffles. However, we recommend that you only start driving when you notice that it has completely worn off. Our truffle ceremonies include overnight accommodation and you can wait until the remedy has fully worked off.
