Mushroom therapy

We cannot legally offer magic mushroom therapy. To comply with the law, our trip therapy is based on magic truffles. We prefer truffles because they also contain psilocybin, just like magic mushrooms. Unlike other psychedelics, magic truffles are legal in the Netherlands, and they are the most effective psychedelics for anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. So, by using magic truffles, we can mimic magic mushroom therapy.

We've also written a blog post about why we believe mushroom therapy should be legalized again. In this blog post, we highlight the subtle differences and how similar mushrooms and truffles are. You can read this blog post by clicking the button below.

How does mushroom therapy work?

Mushroom therapy works because the mushrooms contain hallucinogenic substances. These substances vary, but psilocybin is the most well-known. We've already explained how psilocybin works in detail on the page about psilocybin and psilocybin therapy. You can go there to learn more about how psilocybin and mushroom therapy work.

Psilocybin as a therapeutic tool

Psilocybin can act as a therapeutic tool through its interaction with the brain's serotonin receptors, particularly the 5HT2A receptors. When psilocybin is converted into psilocin, it mimics the effects of serotonin, leading to changes in brain conduction. This can result in a dreamlike state, where connections between different parts of the brain are strengthened. This hyperconnectivity can help break fixed thought patterns and promote emotional processing, which can be particularly helpful for people suffering from mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and addiction.

There's also evidence that psilocybin from magic mushrooms can contribute to the formation of new nerve connections, which could help with neurodegenerative disorders. Clinical trials have shown that psilocybin can have a long-lasting antidepressant effect, even after just one dose. This makes it a promising option for patients who don't respond to traditional treatments like antidepressants.

Combining psilocybin with talk therapy and lifestyle coaching can further enhance the effectiveness of treatment. During a psilocybin session, patients are encouraged to explore their thoughts and feelings, which can lead to deeper insights and personal growth.

Who is psilocybin suitable for?

Psilocybin is suitable for people suffering from depression, anxiety, or addiction, but not for those prone to psychosis, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, or other serious mental health conditions. Furthermore, various medications cannot simply be combined with magic mushrooms or psilocybin.
