LSD and the law

In the Netherlands it falls LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) LSD is a substance classified under the Opium Act, and its possession, use, and trade are prohibited. However, there are ways we at Triptherapie can guide clients through an LSD experience safely and responsibly, without breaking the law. We employ two legal solutions:

Legal LSD analog

There are substances that are chemically almost identical to LSD, but are not (yet) listed on the Opium List. These analogs are converted relatively quickly in the body into active LSD. The effects and experience are therefore virtually identical to those of traditional LSD, but the substance itself is not subject to the current ban. This makes it possible to work legally with these alternatives within Triptherapie. Clients experience the same psychological and therapeutic effects, while the session takes place entirely within the boundaries of Dutch law.

Harm reduction own LSD

Besides the legal analogue, there is a second option. If you have LSD yourself, you can bring it to a session in limited quantities. Within the guidelines of harm reduction Our guides provide a safe environment, professional support, and aftercare. This significantly reduces the risk of a negative experience or unsafe situation. Triptherapie does not provide illegal substances, but focuses solely on safe guidance during the experience.

Our LSD services

Private

A private LSD session is suitable for those who value personal attention and fully customized guidance. You can choose an individual session, where all the focus is on you, or a duo session, in which you make the journey together with a partner, friend or family member. In both cases you work with a macrodosage, so you can experience the full therapeutic and spiritual depth of LSD.

Microdosing

In addition to macro doses, it is also possible to work with microdoses of LSD. This involves taking a very small amount that doesn't induce a classic trip, but can produce subtle changes in mood, concentration, and creativity. This approach may be suitable for people who want to work on personal development in a gentle way, seek more balance in their daily lives, or reduce symptoms such as depression or stress.

Group ceremony

For those who like to connect with others during the journey, there is the option of a group ceremony. Together with like-minded individuals, you'll experience a guided session where, in addition to individual insights, a sense of connection and shared experience will develop. Our facilitators provide a safe environment and personalized attention, including within the group dynamic.

Frequently Asked Questions about LSD

No, LSD is illegal in the Netherlands. It is listed on List I of the Opium Act, which makes possession, trade, and production illegal. This means you cannot legally buy or possess LSD.

However, there are two legal options to work with an LSD experience within the safe guidance of Triptherapie:

  1. Using a legal LSD analogue
There are LSD analogs (such as 1cP-LSD or 1V-LSD) that are converted into active LSD in the body. These substances have virtually the same effect and are not (yet) regulated by the Opium Act, meaning they can be used legally during sessions.

  2. Harm reduction with personal contribution
If someone possesses LSD, they can bring it to a supervised session in limited quantities. Triptherapie does not provide illegal substances itself, but only offers professional guidance and harm reduction to ensure the experience is safe and responsible.

The number of people choosing LSD (analog) sessions at Triptherapie is lower than with psilocybin (truffles). This is due to truffles' reputation, their long-lasting effects, and research suggesting psilocybin's effectiveness. All of this is despite the fact that LSD offers a similar experience to psilocybin, but longer and more synthetic.

Yet, LSD offers unique advantages. While a truffle session often lasts four to six hours, an LSD experience can last eight to twelve hours, allowing more time for deeper levels of self-exploration and spiritual experience. Furthermore, some participants experience LSD as clearer and more structured, while truffles evoke a more organic and natural feeling. Both substances have their own qualities, but essentially they lead to similar insights, emotional processing, and a heightened sense of connection.

The choice between truffles and LSD often comes down to personal preference, practical considerations like the duration of the session, and people's confidence in the scientific evidence. Psilocybin is currently receiving a lot of attention in clinical research and the media, which explains why truffle sessions are more popular. However, LSD deserves the same recognition as a valuable tool for therapy and personal growth, and can be an excellent choice for those seeking a longer, more structured experience.

LSD is often seen as one of the most powerful psychedelics, but whether it's also the "strongest" depends on how you measure potency. A standard dose of LSD (about 100 micrograms) can produce a very intense experience that lasts eight to twelve hours. The active substance is extremely small: LSD is active in micrograms, while most other substances require milligrams or even grams. In that sense, LSD is indeed one of the most potent substances known.

It is possible to combine LSD with other psychedelics, but this requires extra caution. Each combination amplifies and prolongs the effects, making the experience more intense and less predictable. Within the context of Triptherapie, we focus primarily on safety and harm reduction, and therefore generally recommend working with one substance at a time. However, there are common combinations that occur in practice:

LSD + truffles

The combination of LSD and truffles or mushrooms Can lead to an extremely profound experience. Both substances interact with the serotonin system, significantly increasing the intensity. For most people, this is too intense and difficult to manage. Only very experienced travelers sometimes consciously choose this combination.

LSD + MDMA:

This combination is popular because LSD provides visual and spiritual depth, while MDMA enhances feelings of love, empathy, and connection. While this is sometimes experienced as positive, it also increases the risk of nervous system overload and dehydration. Guidance and proper dosage are crucial in this regard.

If you're going on a macro-dose trip for the first time, LSD might not be the best choice. This is mainly due to the long duration and the intensity of this substance. An LSD experience typically lasts eight to twelve hours, meaning that as a beginner, you not only discover the power of psychedelics but also experience a very long and intense journey. This can be tiring and sometimes overwhelming, especially if you don't yet know how you react to psychedelics.

Many beginners therefore first choose psilocybin truffles. Their effects are shorter, usually four to six hours, making them more accessible as a first introduction. Truffles also have a friendlier image and are supported by extensive scientific research on their therapeutic effectiveness. This gives many people more confidence to start using them.

LSD can be a valuable choice for those who already have experience with truffles or other psychedelics and are looking for a longer, more structured trip. The experience is often described as clear, profound, and suitable for extensive self-exploration.

In summary: for beginners it is psilocybin is usually a better first step, while LSD becomes especially interesting for people who already have some experience and consciously choose the longer and more intense nature of this drug.
