More than a tripsitter
Working as a tripsitter often involves providing guidance during the trip. A tripsitter primarily ensures safety during the psychedelic trip. A trip coach or trip therapist goes beyond tripsitters because they do more than just ensure safety.
What does a trip coach or trip therapist do?
I prefer to call myself a trip coach rather than a trip therapist. This is because the word "therapist" carries a connotation that implies the therapist has the solutions. However, in psychedelic therapy, it's the client themselves who are the therapist, as it utilizes the self-healing capacity of the brain and body. The trip coach's role is to offer suggestions that benefit the client.

My knowledge as a trip coach
To make guiding trip therapy as successful as possible, I utilize the knowledge I've acquired over the years as much as possible. Through my chemistry and biochemistry training, I try to translate a wealth of information into a biochemical narrative, which means that nutrition and exercise, for example, impact the chemicals in our bodies, and those chemicals, in turn, have an effect on the psyche. For the past 15 years, I've combined this science with nutrition, fitness, supplements, and psychology. In the last six years, the use of psychedelics has been added.
Example of knowledge
Outside of my studies, there's a lot to learn about nutrition, supplements, exercise, and psychology online. Hardly a day goes by without encountering something that sparks my interest in the areas of psychedelics, psychology, exercise, nutrition, and supplements. Below are some sources of information.
Ergogenics
A very good source with a wealth of information on nutrition, hormones, and exercise is ergogenics. Over the past 15 years, I've read almost every article, and as a result, it's relatively easy to spot patterns that are and aren't good for both body and mind.

Vsauce
Vsausce has three different channels on YouTube, and I've watched pretty much every episode. The best episodes, which are highly educational and also address the subconscious, are the Mind Field episodes. Mind Field episodes are usually paid premium content, but they're still free to watch this year (tip).

More knowledge is better
Of course, there are many other things that are important when helping clients holistically. Knowledge of body language, nutrition, supplements, exercise, aromatherapy, NLP, hormones, evolution, the power of suggestion, psychology, the subconscious, and psychedelics makes me the trip coach I am today. My interest in the science surrounding these topics ensures that my knowledge continues to expand.
What is the most important thing for a trip coach to know?
Actually, trip therapy works best when you can tap into as much knowledge as possible across as many areas of human well-being as possible. All things that benefit the body and mind work synergistically (reinforcing each other). If I had to choose one, I'd choose the subconscious. The subconscious encompasses millions of processes that science doesn't yet understand very well. Knowledge about the subconscious can make all the difference.

What others say about me
My clients are much better judges of the work I deliver. Several clients have also been kind enough to write something about me as a trip coach.
