Mushroom therapy

We cannot legally offer therapy with magic mushrooms. In order to still act within the legislation, our trip therapy is based on magic truffles. We prefer truffles because they also contain psilocybin, just like magic mushrooms. Magic truffles, unlike other psychedelic drugs, are legal in the Netherlands, while being the best-working psychedelic against anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. So by using magic truffles, we can mimic paddotherapy.

We have also written a blog on why we think paddotherapy should be made legal again. In this blog, we highlight the subtle differences and also how much the same magic mushrooms and truffles are. You can read this blog by using the button below.

How does paddotherapy work?

Paddotherapy works because there are hallucinogenic substances in mushrooms. These are different substances, but psilocybin is the most well-known. How psilocybin works we have already explained in detail on the page about psilocybin and psilocybin therapy. You can go there to learn more about how psilocybin and paddotherapy works.

Psilocybin as a therapeutic tool

Psilocybin can act as a therapeutic aid due to its interaction with serotonin receptors in the brain, especially the 5HT2A receptors. When psilocybin is converted to psilocin, it mimics the action of serotonin, leading to changes in stimulus conduction in the brain. This can result in a state similar to a dreamy state, in which the connections between different parts of the brain are strengthened. This hyperconnectivity can help break fixed thought patterns and promote emotional processing, which can be particularly helpful for people suffering from mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders and addictions.

There is also evidence that psilocybin from the magic mushroom can contribute to the formation of new nerve connections, which can help with neurodegenerative disorders. Clinical studies have shown that psilocybin can have long-term antidepressant effects, even after just one dose. This makes it a promising option for patients who do not respond to traditional treatments such as antidepressants.

Combining psilocybin with talk therapy and lifestyle coaching can further enhance the effectiveness of treatment. During a psilocybin session, patients are encouraged to explore their thoughts and feelings, which can lead to deeper insights and personal growth.

Who is psilocybin suitable for?

Psilocybin is suitable for people suffering from depression, anxiety symptoms or addiction, but not for those with psychosis sensitivity, schizophrenia, borderline or other severe mental illnesses. Various medications cannot simply be combined with magic mushrooms or psilocybin either.
