The Magic Truffle Ceremony
Agenda truffle ceremonies
At Triptherapie we organize multiple open truffle ceremonies per month. The next available ceremony can be seen here. In addition to these truffle ceremonies we also offer MDMA group sessions and the information about this can be found via the button below.
Special combinations
During our magical truffle ceremonies, participants can choose from a variety of extras to deepen the psychedelic experience. For example, you can choose to combine the truffles with cacao, blue lotus, passion flower (psiloflora) or Banisteriopsis caapi (psilohuasca). These additions can help to enrich the experience, promote a sense of relaxation and connection, and enhance the spiritual dimension of the ceremony. Each of these extras has unique properties that can influence and deepen the journey, allowing participants to have an even more intense and meaningful experience.
Psilohuasca ceremony
Psilohuasca is similar to the ayahuasca experience because it is a combination of a psychedelic and an MAO inhibitor. In ayahuasca, the psychedelic is DMT, while psilohuasca uses psilocybin or psilocin.
Psiloflora ceremony
Psiloflora is similar to ayahuasca and psilohuasca in terms of hallucinations, but is less intense for the body. It also does not require a strict diet and has fewer contraindications.
Cacao truffle ceremony
In the cacao truffle ceremony the effects of cacao are used as a heart opener, but it also extends the duration of the truffles a little bit. cacao can also improve the mood.
Blue Lotus Truffle Ceremony
Blue lotus during a truffle ceremony gives a slightly stimulating, but also dreamy effect to the truffles. This combination is suitable for those who want to make a spiritual or healing trip.
Pure truffle ceremony
A lot of the previously mentioned combinations are mainly done by people who already have experience with psychedelics such as truffles, DMT, 2C-B ayahuasca, LSD and other hallucinogenic substances. For most newcomers it is recommended to go purely for the effect of psilocybin and therefore only choose truffles. This is because the use of pure and only truffles is more predictable how strong it works and is better to dose than the combinations. If people choose to only use truffles, we can also start with an entry-level dose and assess after an hour after ingestion whether we can increase the dose.
Psilocybin dosage during the ceremony
The dosage of the truffles and thus psilocybin has a great influence on how strong the psychedelic effects become. The higher the dosage, the greater the chance of a strong stimulation of the serotonin receptor called the 5HT2a receptor, which leads to more intense effects. The effects are divided into different trip levels, with lower dosages producing less intense experiences and higher dosages leading to stronger hallucinations and changes in perception. See below what the different dosages and trip levels entail so that we can look at what the best dosage is together with you.
Psilocybin Dosage | Trip level | Duration (h) | Eligibility |
Microdose | 1 | 2-3 | Beginner |
Medium dose | 2-4 | 5-6 | Beginner |
High dose | 4-5 | 6-7 | Some experience |
Heroic dose | 5 | 7-8 | More experienced |
During trip level 1, the negative feelings that result from a serotonin deficiency may fade. Due to the changed communication between the brain hemispheres, music sounds more intense, colours become more vivid and the environment feels more tangible. In this phase, people are more open, social and honest with themselves and others. Triple level 1 is experienced as the maximum trip level with microdoses. With truffle ceremonies with medium, high and heroic doses, people experience trip level 1 briefly in the beginning and return to this level at the end of the session. In general, with a truffle ceremony, almost everyone will choose a higher dose than trip level 1.
More intense experience of colors and visual effects, such as the movement and “breathing” of objects and walls. With closed eyes, 2-dimensional patterns are perceptible. Due to changes in short-term memory, the participant experiences a constant alternation of distracting thoughts and an extreme focus. The natural filter in the brain is bypassed, which leads to an increase in creativity. In this phase, cross-connections can be discovered, such as the reasons behind certain events and ways to deal with them. For this triplevel, it also applies that most participants want a slightly stronger trp experience.
There are very clear visual effects. Everything seems bent or distorted. Patterns are visible on walls, objects, faces, etc. There are mild hallucinations, such as the effect of flowing rivers in wood grains or other structures. There is some confusion of the senses, for example seeing sound as color. Time distorts, so that everything seems to take place in the “now”. From this level it is quite possible to connect with the subconscious mind, while it can still be controlled well. Fears can be present in the subconscious that cause stress without one being aware of it. This level is useful to deal with these fears from the subconscious. Fears often come from the past or for the future. These fears are not real in the present moment, and acceptance is possible during this triplevel. Many participants of truffle ceremonies choose to reach this level.
Powerful hallucinations, such as objects transforming into other objects (morphing). The perception of the ego fades; for example, objects can talk to you or you experience conflicting feelings at the same time. There is a certain blurring of reality, and time becomes an incomprehensible concept. Possible experiences of out-of-body experiences can occur. There is a mixing of stimuli from different senses. Due to the loss of the ego and the associated self-protection, people are often hard but honest with themselves in this phase. Problems can be addressed and given a place. The connection with the subconscious is very intense in this triple level, so that much can be learned about one's own identity, while it seems as if it is about someone else due to the loss of the ego. Most participants of truffle ceremonies want to reach triple level 4 during the ceremony.
How psilocybin works
When you use truffles, you ingest psilocybin, but also psilocin. After ingesting these substances, various processes are initiated that give you a psychedelic experience. The progress that people make through a truffle ceremony is often attributed to the subjective experience and this is indeed important, but partly determines the improvements. A large part of the healing power of mushrooms, truffles or psilocybin comes from the biological processes that it initiates, such as inhibiting inflammation, protecting various cell types and initiating the production of new neural connections in the brain. Via the button below you can read in which ways psilocybin can help in various areas.

A truffle ceremony is a guided experience in which truffles containing psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are used in a ritual or therapeutic setting. These ceremonies take place in a safe, supportive environment under the guidance of our experienced trip sitters and therapists. The goal is usually personal growth, spiritual exploration, emotional healing or processing trauma.
During a truffle ceremony, the participant goes through several stages:
Preparation: This includes a conversation with the facilitator to discuss intentions, answer questions and share any fears or expectations. Physical and mental preparation, such as fasting or meditation, may also be part of this process.
Intake: The truffles are consumed, often in a quiet, serene environment. The dosage is adjusted according to the experience and needs of the participant.
The experience: After ingestion, the effect of the psilocybin begins, which can lead to deep emotional, visual and spiritual experiences. The facilitator remains present to provide support, safety and guidance if needed.
Integration: After the ceremony, there is time for reflection and discussion of the experience. Integration is a crucial part, where the insights and emotions that emerged during the ceremony are processed and applied in daily life.
Truffle ceremonies are often done in conjunction with traditional shamanic practices, but they are also increasingly used in modern therapeutic contexts, for example in the treatment of depression, anxiety or PTSD. See more here reasons for participating in a truffle ceremony.
Currently, health insurers do not reimburse psychedelic therapy. For now, psychedelic therapy is not yet recognised as a medical treatment and is rather seen as coaching under the influence of a stimulant. We expect that, under certain conditions, psychedelic therapy will not be partly reimbursed until 2026/2027. By then, more studies will have been completed and health insurers may be less reluctant.
Yes, we have had a piggy bank to give rebates to low-income earners since January 2025. If you have less than €30k a year in income, you can already use a subsidy of up to €450. This already makes it possible for people on a low income to participate in a truffle ceremony for as little as 100 euros! See also: Grant application
Truffle ceremony experiences can vary greatly depending on the person, dosage, setting and intention. Here are some common experiences participants may have during a truffle ceremony:
1. Emotional Liberation
Many people experience a deep emotional release, with long-stored feelings of sadness, fear, anger or joy coming to the surface. This can have a therapeutic effect, especially for people processing trauma.
2. Visual and Sensory Changes
Psilocybin can cause changes in perception, such as vivid visual patterns, colours appearing more intense, or an altered sense of time and space. Some also experience a deeper connection with their senses.
3. Spiritual Insights
Many participants report a sense of connection with the universe, a higher power or their inner self. This may be accompanied by insights about life, death, love or the purpose of existence.
4. Bodily Sensations
Some experience physical sensations, such as tingling, warmth or a feeling of weightlessness. Sometimes the body may also release tension, manifesting as trembling, crying or laughing.
5. Ego death
At higher doses, a temporary decline of the ego can occur, with the sense of a separated "self" fading away. This can be both overwhelming and liberating and often leads to deep insights into the nature of existence.
6. Connection with Nature and Others
Many people feel a deeper connection with nature, other people or the universe. This can bring about a sense of oneness and love.
7. Confronting Fear or Shadows
Sometimes the experience brings up difficult emotions or memories, challenging the participant to accept and integrate them. This can be an important part of the healing process.
8. Creativity and New Perspectives
Psilocybin can open the mind to new ways of thinking, leading to creative insights or solutions to problems a person has been struggling with for a long time.
9. Euphoria and Bliss
Many participants experience periods of intense joy, bliss or a sense of peace and acceptance.
10. Integration of Insights
After the peak of the experience, participants can reflect on what they have learned and how they can apply these insights in their daily lives. This is a crucial part of the process.
