The magical truffle ceremony
A truffle ceremony can go by various names, such as "psilocybin ceremony," "magic mushroom ceremony," "shroom ceremony," or simply "plant medicine ceremony." In the Netherlands, we primarily call this the truffle ceremony because only the magic truffle, which contains psilocybin, is legal. During our truffle ceremonies, we offer you many extras so that you, as a participant, can experience the powerful experience, insights, and therapeutic effects of magic truffles. For example, you can use various additives or simply opt for a higher dosage if possible. We tailor the ceremony and preparation based on your options and personal preferences.

The effects of psilocybin truffles
Psilocybin is a psychoactive substance found in magic truffles. After being converted into psilocin, it has various effects on the brain, including a heightened sense of connection to the environment, changes in perception, and distortions in the sense of time. Psilocin works by binding to serotonin receptor sites in the brain, specifically the 5-HT2A receptor. This leads to changes in stimulus processing and neurochemistry. These changes are primarily responsible for the euphoric and hallucinogenic effects. A detailed explanation of how psilocybin works and its uses can be found on the following pages.
The extra support with Tripherapie
We offer more than just the truffle ceremony. Besides the ceremony itself, we offer standard pre- and aftercare. Before the ceremony, each client receives personalized advice based on the intake and the client's goals. We also provide small exercises that may be helpful. Furthermore, the preparation can minimize any anxiety or uncertainty by improving neurochemistry with nutrition and/or supplements. After the ceremony, an integration session can be held to process the experience and integrate it into daily life. In short, this is our approach:
Before the ceremony
- Safety screening based on the intake
- Nutritional advice in preparation for the truffle ceremony
- Supplement advice to improve neurochemistry
- Video and reading suggestions that can come to life during the session
- Small assignments that can help prepare for the session
During the ceremony
- Time to get acquainted and relax
- A group theme that can support goal setting
- Small groups so that there is room for group feeling and:
- Taking space for yourself is possible by temporarily withdrawing into separate cabins
- Experienced guidance with at least one guide per four participants
After the ceremony
- Food and drinks are included and are mostly healthy
- The overnight stay is included as standard but not obligatory
- Breakfast is included if required

Psilohuasca, psiloflora or truffle ceremony
Free choice of ceremony
From June 2023 onwards, every truffle ceremony can be chosen psiloflora And vice versa. Psiloflora is similar to psilohuasca, but with a milder MAOI (passion flower). As a client, you can therefore decide at the last minute whether you want to use psiloflora as an addition to your truffle ceremony. There are some additional contraindications for psiloflora, such as the use of SSRIs and SNRIs. We can assess the suitability of psiloflora during the intake. The addition of passion flower can slightly enhance and prolong the effects of the truffles. Furthermore, the passion flower can create a more relaxed mindset, making the trip easier. More information about the psiloflora ceremony can be found via the link.
Tyramine-restricted diet
With psiloflora, it's mandatory to follow a tyramine-restricted diet for a week beforehand to prevent side effects. Read the page below for more information.
Truffle ceremony and theme
We assign a theme to each truffle ceremony. These themes are freely interpretable and add an extra dimension to the psychedelic ceremony. During the week before the truffle ceremony, we send each participant videos and/or reading suggestions related to the theme. These serve as a kickstart for the introductory discussion before we begin the actual ceremony. You can use these themes freely for your personal goals, and they provide space to connect with the other participants.
Location for the truffle ceremonies
We regularly use the Psychedelic Loft in Schiedam. Its convenient location in South Holland, close to The Hague and Rotterdam, is easily accessible by public transport, and there's free parking within walking distance.
We've specially decorated the Psychedelic Loft with art and patterns to add an extra dimension to the truffle ceremony. After the truffle ceremony, participants can choose to stay overnight at no extra cost. More information about this location can be found via the button below.

FAQ truffle ceremonies
At Triptherapie, truffle ceremonies cost between €600 and €850 per participant. This price includes psychedelics, food, drinks, and overnight stays.
We have a maximum of only six participants for the Schiedam location and a maximum of four for the De Bedding location in 's-Hertogenbosch. This allows for more space for each participant, and with six participants, there's also a sense of community. For groups of four to six, we also have two supervisors present. We believe this is the best ratio.
On the day of the truffle ceremony there are several phases such as arrival, setting intention, intake, introspection, coming down, sharing circle and integration.
We generally give doses between 15 and 75 grams of truffles. This is possible because the ratio of companions to participants is rather high (2 to 6).
99% of participants have no appetite for about 6 hours after taking truffles. We provide healthy food as soon as the appetite returns and the body needs nourishment.
About 75 percent of participants feel tired after the truffle ceremony. This is because some trips are intense and falling asleep after truffle use can be a bit more difficult. We recommend not scheduling any appointments the day after the ceremony.
Most people experience the effects of truffles for between 4 and 7 hours. Depending on the dosage and how the body functions, this varies from person to person. However, the most intense effects last about 2-3 hours, which is what we call the peak experience. Furthermore, after the trip, there is an afterglow that can last several hours.
On average, people can't drive again for 10-14 hours after taking truffles. However, we advise against driving until you feel the effects have completely worn off. Our truffle ceremonies include an overnight stay, and you can wait until the effects have fully worn off.
